FAQ

What is Vega & Lyra?

A small story about two roommates on opposite schedules. Vega has the mornings, Lyra has the nights, and they’re never home at the same time. So they talk in sticky notes on the fridge.

How do the notes go back and forth?

Vega writes hers before she heads out in the morning: peach paper, brown felt-tip, held up by a ceramic leaf magnet. Lyra reads them when she gets in, then answers before she heads out after dark: lavender paper, indigo ink, held up by a black owl magnet. Vega finds the reply when she gets home. Now and then a note goes on the wall by the front door instead, held with washi tape. Some replies take a day. Some take weeks.

Why does Lyra write in lowercase?

On purpose. Her notes are small, neat and quiet, and she almost never uses a capital letter. If one ever shows up, read that note twice.

Why does Vega use so many exclamation points?

Vega believes a note with fewer than three exclamation points is basically a frown. Lyra keeps count on a separate note of her own. She never marks Vega’s.

Are they ever home at the same time?

No. Their schedules don’t overlap, so the fridge door does all the talking. That’s the story.

Are Vega and Lyra real?

They’re fictional characters, both adults, aged 24. The apartment, the fridge and the fern are made up too, though the fern would like to be taken seriously.

Who keeps watering the fern?

The fern is Vega’s. Somebody else keeps watering it. Nobody has owned up yet.

Where do they live?

In an apartment on quiet streets, with tall windows, a lot of plants and a fridge that does most of the talking. That’s as much as the fridge will say.

Where can I watch the clips?

New clips post on TikTok (@vegaandlyra). The Shorts page has the latest, and the Series page explains the shows.

Can my comment end up on the fridge?

It can. For Vega & Lyra: Fridge Mail, we pick public questions from the comments on TikTok and put them on the fridge door as a note. Only your words go up, as you wrote them or clearly paraphrased. Your username and profile picture never go on the fridge. Emails stay private and never go on the fridge either.

How do I get in touch?

Email hello@vegaandlyra.com. Messages are read by the person behind the site. Replies may be signed by Vega or Lyra, and they may be slow. Your email address is all we need, so please leave other personal details out of your message.

Is there a newsletter?

Not yet. Vega & Lyra: Notes from the Fridge is coming soon. There’s nothing to sign up for right now; the newest notes are on the home page.
